Medications

If you are new to any medication while you are starting school. Make sure you are used to any and all of the side effects it has before your semester starts. If you aren't used to the side effects then it could really hurt you to start school with any medication.

Time management

Time management is one of the toughest things to get a handle on for school life and home life. No matter what just ask for help when you need it. Don't try acting like you can do everything yourself.

If you try doing that you can really screw yourself up.

Getting ready for classes

When you are getting ready for classes its good to figure out what it is that you want. If you start registering for classes and you don't know what you are wanting that you pretty much are diving in blind. You need to have an idea of what you want or you can be in a lot of trouble.

One thing you will always need for your classes is pencils because not every teacher wants you to use pencils. You need to make sure you are prepared. Try collecting all of your supplies before the semester starts but if your not able to then there are generally good sales after the start of the semester.

Budgeting and Routines

Budgeting and Routines are your best friend if you can get them to work. If you can't get them to work than they can be your worst enemies. Sometimes the stress will get to you so much it could seem like nothing is going to work for you.

Purchasing food for your child can be hard and confusing when you have so many other things on your mind. More often than not you will hear only about Gerber and some of the organic brands. One of the brands you don't hear about much is Beech Nut its a great brand that has most of the same brands as Gerber but they are cheaper for the same amount of food. If you can get more bang for your buck isn't straying away from what you have been told a better thing?
"Remember you are trying to make this stretch for as long as you can since you have so many things to pay for this semester. Why not look at some of the off brand items to see if you can get anything for a better price?" -Bruce Arnold, My dear loving husband
He can be a pain in my butt sometimes but he also has been very helpful. He will take care of our son when I'm in class if he isn't needing to be in class himself. He has recorded when our son started with his milestones when I was in school. Ya I felt jealous but I knew it was for the best. When I saw him rolling over in a little video clip I nearly cried in happiness.
"Well at least he is definitely going with his nickname of being a bug of many sizes." -Barbara, my mom and his loving grandma
This will be an exciting time for everyone especially when your children are starting to eat solid foods or start trying to help you fold the laundry when they are learning how to crawl and to walk. When they are teething is the hardest time that I have found. I am glad that I haven't been in school during this time because I would have been failing the classes with lack of sleep and concentration.

Getting him into a routine...

If you are interested in going to school when your child is younger than preschool age it can be difficult. You should try getting your child onto a schedule and work your classes around your child's schedule. It is more difficult if you try working your child's schedule around yours. If you can try having a set babysitter or very easy going grandparents that love your child and/or children. If you have to have a daycare and you can afford it than try to get a daycare that you can get to with easy distance to your school. You will miss somethings while your in college that is expected but at times you just need to take a breath and  relax.
"No matter what you do or don't do your life is based on your choices. As long as you are comfortable with the decisions that you make you shouldn't worry about the opinion of anyone else." -Barbara Rowen
My mother is an awesome grandmother and inspiration for me. She went to college while my sister and I were children. She has shown me that no matter what if you want to do something you can do it just focus and make your dream come true. Don't let people tear you down if you have a dream that you really want to succeed with. The only person that is in your way is you. So stop being in your own way and go for your dream. Don't cram your schedule because you want to get your college career done in a certain amount of time. If you can go for a associates degree or a bachelor's degree first. If you complete it and want to keep going then go for it. By going to school while your children are still young you will instill in them the want and self strength to do homework and get into college. Children will mimic their parents values as much as you don't want them to or don't believe they actually are.
"The only time your children aren't watching you and learning how they are supposed to act is when you are pregnant with them. Even when they are sleeping they are reviewing how they are supposed to act with people around or without people around." -Michelle, my psychology teacher
A lot of what she taught me when I was in her class (during the developmental period of her class) I used to take care of my son and know what I was supposed to do to help him be the person he wants to be

He is nearly 1 year old

I am a stay at home mother that is going to college for a psychology degree. I started in classes a week after I found out that I was pregnant with my first child. I figured I wouldn't be able to start classes but my husband said, "You really want to be in college. You go and we will figure out how to make everything work." It was the best thing we could have done. My lovely little boy is nearly a year old and I'm going for my second semester since he was born. It has been hard but very worth it going back to school during this period in his lifetime. The first five months of his life I took a break from going to school so that I could take care of him. It was very hard to start in classes but I had a lot of help. Taking care of him in the mornings before class and after class made it a challenge to get my homework done, but i would stay up for a few hours after he would go to sleep so i could get the daily assignments done. When my son would hit milestones in his development I wasn't always there but my husband and my mom would let me know what was going on. My son would go to sleep with his daddy and wake up with his mommy so that I could get my homework done and study for tests. Hopefully the rest of his milestones that on average happen before he turns a year old will happen before I go back to classes but if they don't than that is fine.
